Most founders in the room learned they had work to do.
THE RECAP: Startup x Capital Forum and Founders and Investors Soiree | w. Solana, BitMart US, PR Genius
Sacha Ghebali (The Tie), Henry Felella (SVB), and Camille L Cordero (Anchorage Digital), moderated by Kim Than (Genius PR), broke down “What Do Institutions Actually Need?” “Bring cookies,” said Henry.
The conversation cut straight to how to get yourself in the door. A few things stood out: make friends with the executive assistants, they control every calendar in the building. Bring cookies, and be persistent. If you follow up, institutions read that as someone who genuinely wants to work together. If you have the nerve to cold call your way in, you just might get the meeting.
“Build relationships before you need them” was a key takeaway from Jake Fuchs (Fin Capital), our Co-Founder Elena Obukhova (Supermoon), and Desiree Almodovar (JPMorganChase), moderated by Arthur Firstov (Mercuryo).
Speakers covered which is better for early-stage startups: corporate VCs vs. traditional VCs, sharing that startups receiving CVC have a “21-64% higher chance of a successful exit than those relying solely on traditional VC”.
Then 6 early-stage founders took the stage in front of a judge panel made up of Yevheniia Broshevan (Hacken, Blockchain Security & Compliance), Matthew Nay (Foundation Capital), Gregory 🌲 Rocco (Ethereal Ventures), Kevin O'Brien (Verdicti Ventures), Lacey-Ann Wisdom (PL Capital), and Colton Conley (Arrington Capital).
